The golden sandy beach at Lorne gives you the chance to enjoy your favourite beach pastimes, surfing, swimming or just relaxing. The southern end is protected from most ocean swells, making it popular with families. Volunteer lifesavers and paid lifeguards patrol in peak holiday periods. Further north the beach is ideal for surfing.

Opposite the town's main street between Point Grey and the Erskine River mouth, a wide grass reserve separates the shops and beach, ideal for picnics with childrens play facilities, excellent changerooms, showers and toilets and access for the disabled. Picnic tables and barbecues dot the grassed reserve.
